Veken Technology wins first prize for technical invention from China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation

On the morning of December 5th, 2023, the National Petroleum and Chemical Industry Scientific and Technological Innovation Conference was held in Wuhan. The conference was jointly hosted by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and Hubei Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology. Li Shousheng, president of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, Xu Nanping and Liu He, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Peng Xiaojun and Yang Wantai, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science, and several other people attended the conference.

The conference listed 2023 China petroleum and chemical industry scientific and technological innovation awards winners. Veken Technology won the first prize for technical invention. And, its chief technical consultant, Professor Ma Zifeng from Shanghai Jiao Tong University gave a special lecture, introducing the development opportunities and industrialization challenges of sodium ion battery, which received high attention from the conference attendees.

As early as 2019, Veken Technology collaborated with Professor Ma Zifeng to research industrialization of sodium ion battery. In September 2022, it signed "Deep Cooperation Strategic Framework Agreement" with Zhejiang Natrium, hiring Professor Ma Zifeng as the chief technical consultant. In October, it strategically invested in the upstream industry chain of sodium ion battery by officially participating in Natrium's A-round financing.

At the beginning of 2022, Veken Technology established the Sodium-ion Battery Research Institute to conduct in-depth research on the engineering and technical difficulties of sodium ion battery industrialization by a professional R&D team; so far, it has accumulated a large amount of data on cathode and anode materials and electrolyte comparison, performance test, and process engineering, and has made technical breakthroughs. Currently, it has developed the sodium ion battery with an energy density of 150wh/kg and a cycle life of more than 5000.

Veken's strategic layout aims at achieving sodium ion battery industrialization. Nanchang base is designed for prismatic sodium ion cell and its systematic integration. For its first phase, designed production capacity is 2GWh, and there has the first GW level sodium ion battery mass production line in China. Ningbo base is designed for cylindrical cells and battery packs for two-wheeled vehicles, and planned production capacity of its first phase is 1GWh.

In the future, Veken Technology will continue to promote its technological path, focusing on the research and development of high-energy density power batteries, long-cycle energy storage batteries, ultra-high safety special energy storage products, and ultra-high cost-effectiveness low-speed vehicle batteries to meet different market demands.
